A well-looked-after tank can last you for 15-20 years, though at some point it will need to be replaced in order to comply with current safety standards and regulations and to avoid any costly mishaps that can occur from a cracked and leaking tank.

An annual tank check helps to ensure your tank is in good working order, you can do this yourself though to be sure everything is up to standard it is worth having an OFTEC registered engineer take a look, and if your tank is old or damaged it will likely need replacing.

Checking Your Tank

If you’re checking your tank over yourself, here are some questions to ask and some signs that you might need your tank replaced:

• Are there any signs of damage such as bulges or cracks?
• If your tank is metal, are there signs of rust?
• Do you have any spills or leaks?
• Are you using more fuel than usual? This could be a sign that your tank is not working correctly.

Our Replacement Service

As part of the replacement process, we will transfer the contents of your existing tank into a holding tank with a temporary supply line to avoid disruption to your property, remove any sludge and water into a waste tank and prepare the old tank for proper disposal. We recycle 100% of the tanks we remove from the site. We will then install your new tank in line with current OFTEC regulations, making any changes to the supporting base and surrounds as needed.
